Congleton Dane Probus Club held their monthly meeting at Lion & Swan Hotel on Monday 16th January 2017. Chairman Paul Hibbert welcomed members. Two of founding members Peter Jordan and Alan Topliss passed away and members observed silence in their memory.

Trevor Adams, vice chairman and events co-ordinator updated on plans for the year. Peter Lowe who spoke on Gliding during December encouraged members to come along for the visit to gliding centre when arranged. A trip is proposed for Bulbs show in Holland for 2ndMay. A visit to Avro museum is also planned. 

Don Newling reported on our successful Snooker Group which meets Tuesday mornings and turn out from members has been excellent. Everyone seems to enjoy the game and the banter that goes with it.

Spring Lunch is organised for 22nd March at The Legs of Man, Sandbach and organiser John Wolstenholme updated members on the arrangements.

Lisa Bell from East Cheshire made an excellent presentation on the work of East Cheshire Hospice and members showed their appreciation as well as making voluntary contributions to Hospice. Steven Ellwood updated on “chatty lunch group” who meet at “Brownlow Inn” with Congleton and District Probus Club and everyone seem to enjoy an informal lunch and the banter that goes with it.
