The invited speaker for our meeting on Monday, 8th September is George Pilkington, a renowned ecologist, environmental educationist, researcher and inventor, who has given talks to us on at least two previous occasions.
Through his organization, Nurturing Nature established in 2000, George conducts research into bees and birds in their natural habitats, and invented the award winning Bumblebee Nest Box and Solitary Bee Observation Nest Box which featured on BBC2’s The Wild Gardener. He also does talks, presentations and workshops for organizations which include Kew Gardens, RSPB, RHS Harlow Carr, Chester Zoo, National Trust, Wildlife Trusts, London School of Economics, Environment Agency, Co-op Bank, BBC Springwatch, Universities, researchers, schools, gardeners, honey beekeeping groups and more.
In a change to the previously published talk. George will this time speak about “How to Feed Wild Birds”, giving insights into how, when, what and why to feed and potential harm/dangers to birds. It has been updated with recent research and videos.
