September 2025 news

The speaker at our next meeting on Monday, 13th October, is Roy Hoerty.   Roy has been a Registered Tour Guide for NW England for 30 years.  He is a member of the British Guild of Tourist Guides and the International Guild of Battlefield Guides, and is Past President of the Institute of Tourist Guides, the Standards body for Tour Guiding in Britain.

His talk, entitled “Kings, Queens, Bones and Bastards”, will cover a history of British Monarchy – but not as we know it!  Not perhaps what we were taught at school, but a history that includes at least one wicked Stepmother, death by unconventional means, unusual places for the remains of some monarchs, and lots of illegitimate children.
